Reservoir Media, a prominent New York-based music company, has inked new publishing administration deals with legendary rapper Snoop Dogg and Death Row Records. These agreements cover domestic publishing for Snoop Dogg’s entire catalog, including his past hits, future works, and the publishing rights of Death Row Records, which Snoop acquired in 2022 from MNRK Music Group. After acquiring the iconic label, Snoop Dogg pulled the Death Row catalog from streaming platforms, later returning it in February last year, initially giving TikTok exclusive access for the first week.
Death Row Records, known for producing landmark albums like The Chronic by Dr. Dre, Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg, and All Eyez On Me by 2Pac, continues to maintain a strong legacy in hip-hop. In 2023, Snoop expanded his vision by launching a new publishing division under Death Row, representing various songwriters associated with the label. This latest deal with Reservoir includes rights to timeless hits such as Hail Mary by Makaveli, I Ain’t Mad At Cha by 2Pac, and Picture Me Rollin’ by 2Pac, among others.
Snoop expressed his excitement about the partnership, saying, “I’m honored to have them as a partner and look forward to all the great things we’ll accomplish together, both with the catalog and future music ventures.” Donna Caseine, Reservoir’s Executive Vice President, Global Creative Director, highlighted Snoop’s impact, stating, “Snoop is a one-name legend. From music to brands and entertainment, his influence spans across industries. For three decades, he has been at the forefront of hip-hop and pop culture, cementing Death Row Records’ place in history.”
Reservoir’s CEO, Golnar Khosrowshahi, added, “Working with Snoop is an incredible opportunity. His vast influence and iconic catalog give us a chance to further elevate his music in the mainstream. This deal is also a significant moment for Death Row, a brand that Snoop has brought full circle with his dedication to preserving its rich legacy.”
Reservoir’s recent collaboration with Snoop Dogg and Death Row is one of several strategic moves by the company. Last month, Reservoir acquired the publishing rights to the catalog of Billy Strange, a renowned songwriter and guitarist. Other notable acquisitions include 2Pac producer Big D Evans, Latin music hitmaker Rudy Perez, and Grammy-nominated producer Mannie Fresh, in addition to catalogs from rock artist Greg Kihn, saxophonist Sonny Rollins, and members of R&B group The Spinners.
These investments have fueled Reservoir’s financial growth. In the first quarter of fiscal 2025, the company reported an 8% year-over-year revenue increase, reaching $34.3 million. Publishing revenue alone contributed $24 million, showing a 15% rise, largely due to catalog acquisitions and a surge in streaming income. Reservoir has spent nearly $1 billion on catalog acquisitions and signings since its launch in 2007, further cementing its place as a leader in the music publishing industry.
