Beyoncé and Moët Hennessy unveil SirDavis: A new chapter in American whisky – SirDavis whisky launched by Beyoncé and Moët Hennessy, blending legacy with innovation

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter partners with Moët Hennessy to launch new premium whisky, SirDavis

Beyoncé Knowles-Carter announced the launch of her new whisky, SirDavis, in a press release via PRNewswire. The whisky, created in partnership with Moët Hennessy, a subsidiary of LVMH, marks a significant step for both Knowles-Carter and Moët Hennessy as they aim to shape the future of American whisky. The partnership was sparked by Knowles-Carter’s passion for Japanese whisky and her vision to craft a unique flavor profile, a journey that has been years in the making. Moët Hennessy’s interest in expanding its presence in the American whisky market made the collaboration a natural fit.

Knowles-Carter’s great-grandfather, Davis Hogue, a moonshiner in the American South during Prohibition. Inspired by his legacy, Knowles-Carter set out to create a whisky that pays tribute to his history, and SirDavis now stands on the shelves of premium spirits retailers worldwide.

Bernard Arnault, Chairman and CEO of LVMH, praised the collaboration, describing SirDavis as a “remarkable American whisky” that embodies the shared values of craftsmanship, heritage, and innovation between LVMH and Knowles-Carter.

Led by Master Distiller Dr. Bill Lumsden, known for his work with Glenmorangie and Ardbeg, SirDavis features a distinct mash bill of 51% rye and 49% malted barley. The whisky is crafted using a combination of traditional methods and innovative techniques, including secondary maturation in sherry casks. The result is a whisky that balances elegance and boldness, drawing inspiration from both Japanese and Scotch whisky traditions.

SirDavis has already garnered recognition, winning Best In Class for American Whiskey at the 2023 SIP Awards and earning a Gold Medal at the New York International Spirits Competition. It also received a 93-point rating from the Ultimate Spirits Challenge, positioning it to make a significant impact on the American whisky market.

In addition to playing a central role in the whisky’s creation, Knowles-Carter also designed the SirDavis bottle. The sleek, ribbed glass design captures light and highlights the whisky, while a black medallion featuring a bronze horse nods to her Texas roots, symbolizing strength and respect. SirDavis is Moët Hennessy’s first internally developed spirits brand in the U.S., with production based in Texas. It will be available for pre-order at $89 through SirDavis.com, with distribution beginning in September 2024.
